Arena League Round 3

The 3rd and final round of the Arena League was held at The Quays, Southampton, on Saturday evening, with 8 clubs competing. Thanks to a fantastic effort from all of our swimmers and a strong sequence of relay finishes at the end of the gala, we managed to clinch 5th place by a single point! :-)

We had no less then 19 PBs on the night, with the following swimmers setting new highs:

Mark Tuddenham, Scarlett Whitehead, Theo Shaw, Duane Godfrey, Abi Garner, Alex Paterson, Nicky Coutts, William Ho, Ariana Leon-Ayarza, Bethany Whittaker, Daniel Arriola-Alves, Gemma Spencer, Lilia Morre, George Fowler, Lily Maguire, Naila Farage-O'Reilly and Matt Danton.

Special mention to Felix Abel, who set 2 PBs and finished 2nd and 3rd in his 2 races. Well done Felix!

We also had an individual race winner and a relay team winner, so many congratulations to Lilia Moore and Theo Shaw, Timmy Hicks, George Fowler and Thomas Fowler (age 9-11 boys Medley relay) on their outstanding swims and great wins!

The event was also tinged with sadness as it was coach Will's last Arena League with Wey Valley, before he moves on to his new role as full-time Head coach of Crawley SC. However, it was great to be able to end the Will era on a high, with an exciting and successful gala and a wonderful team spirit shown by all of our swimmers. The senior boys "Willpott" chants and body paintwork will live long in the memory! :-)
