Swimming Club

Welcome to Wey Valley!

*COVID-19 UPDATE* - Saturday 10th November 2020

Further to the latest Government's advice we are now back to virtual land training only, until at least the 2nd December. Luckily Matt Osborne and Head coach Carrie will be hosting new sessions each Thursday at 6.30-7.00pm, starting this Thursday 12th November on Zoom.

To access the Zoom link, please click on the ‘Lockdown Virtual Training’ button above or check your emails for the weekly password. These will be sent to Senior, Junior and Pre-Comp squads.

The below pool information is currently for reference only for when they open again.

**Our pools are currently shut**

We are now back in the pool at the Guildford Spectrum and Godalming Leisure Centre with a new term session structure from Sunday 6th Sept which makes best use of the available pool time. The first full weekend sessions were all completed including the first return for our teaching groups. Thank you to everyone for their efforts in making this happen and especially to the swimmers who were following all the new rules and enjoying pool time again.

We sent out survey links to members w/c 31st August to find out your preferences, so if you have completed this and haven't heard back, then your sessions will be as requested. If you have not responded then you will need to get in touch as we are using these responses to populate our sessions and registers. The most up to date list is below.

September Schedule

NB. JS/SS, Wednesday 1830-2000 at Godalming will be on alternate weeks

*Masters additional lane on Monday at the same time as Senior Squad for the braver swimmers, Spectrum 8.30pm-9.30pm

Guildford Spectrum

The Spectrum entry procedure has changed for evening sessions where swimmers should now use the main entrance and meet outside. For the Sunday teaching sessions, swimmers should be accompanied to the drop off area at the bottom of the stairs outside the lifts / pool control. This also acts as the pick up point for the younger swimmres - please do remember to wear your mask.

Inside the Spectrum face masks are now requested to be worn by all swimmers and spectators in all areas excep poolside.  This includes swimmers under the age of 11. Usual exemptions apply, but please let the club know if this covers any members. Hand sanitiser is available on entry and should be used by anyone coming in the front entrance.

Parents are allowed to view from the viewing gallery, although the cafe and balcony next to the Leisure pool are off limits. Changing rooms, lockers or showers are not to be used by swimmers and Parents should meet their swimmers outside the pool as usual.

Please read the latest Risk Assessment covering use of the main entrance (again just Evening sessions for now), which can be found here: WVSC Covid 19 RA Spectrum v5.docx

The video for how club sessions work is here - please note we are not longer using the rear of the pool for Sunday sessions https://youtu.be/TKoEtioWFFY

Godalming Leisure Centre

The Godalming LC instruction video can be viewed here https://youtu.be/5_XK4JLRFFY.

For reference the latest updated Risk Assessment (version 3) can be viewed here WVSC Covid 19 RA GLC v3.docx

PLEASE NOTE THAT ON EXIT FROM GODALMING POOL, SWIMMERS WILL NOW BE DIRECTED LEFT TO THE REAR CAR PARK WHEN IT IS DARK, THIS IS WELL LIT AND WORKED WELL LAST WEEKEND. This will avoid confusion of which side the swimmers will emerge, but please can we ask all parents meet them at the gated exit and not to wait in cars. This will avoid unsupervised swimmers wandering across the car park.
