Introduction to Wey Valley

Wey Valley is a friendly, Swim 21 accredited club catering for swimmers of all standards, from complete beginners to competitive swimmers. Swimmers are placed in groups according to their ability and are encouraged to swim regularly, both for enjoyment and to keep fit. Squad swimmers are coached to attain as high a standard as possible and are encouraged to represent the club in competitive galas. Internal events including Time Trials and Club Championships, are also held throughout the year and all swimmers are encouraged to participate in these friendly events. Our annual Fun Splash and BBQ is the main social event of the year but other social activities, such as quiz nights, are also organised. Wey Valley members receive information about the club via notices on our boards at Godalming, on our web site and by emails.

It is our aim that all swimmers will develop their skills while benefiting from the facilities and enjoying the friendship offered by the club.

The club is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) as part of the South East Region (SER). This is one of eight regions of the ASA, the English national governing body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water, and synchronised swimming. Within the SER are various sub regional bodies, the one that WVSC falls into is the Surrey County Swimming Association (SCSA). Wey Valley Coach, Jeni Colbourne, is chairman of the SCSA.

The club is run by volunteers, covering a multitude of jobs, so any offer of help is always appreciated even if you can only spare a limited amount of time. If you feel you can offer help in any way please email the club secretary, Chris Michael.

Note: If any swimmer develops any medical condition whilst a member of the club, please inform the club immediately.
