It was the first round of the Premier League last Saturday in Fleet. The Premier League is a two round competition for children in categories from 9 years old through to U14. We were swimming against Rushmoor Royals, Hart, Hamble, Eastleigh and Godalming. We finished 4th on the night and, as with many of the leagues, round one is a random draw and so the three teams that finished above us were Division One clubs so 4th was a very good result and the children are to be congratulated. The result leaves us ranked 9th out of the 19 clubs in the three Premier League divisions and third in Division 2 behind Sutton & Cheam and Locks Heath. Round 2 will be at Basingstoke on the 16th May.

Once again Sharon Gourlay processed the results and her eagle eye spotted;

"28/40 individual swims were PBs with a fair few others swimming 'on' PB and just missing out by a fraction.
The PBs of note were (previous times in brackets):

• Isabel Edwards 50m free 40.09 (43.02)
• Hannah Harms 50m back 45.32 (50.64)
• ames Quick 50m breaststroke 52.78 (no previous official time, but 1.00.35)
• Connor Wallis 50m fly 53.21 (1.00.21)

There was a CR for Luke Edwards who reclaimed the U14 50m backstroke 35.94 (previous record Mark Tuddenham 36.38 Feb 09). Three other CRs were threatened with Alex Tanner chasing not only the U16 50m fly but joining the race to depose Jon from the U16 50m free and Ailie Groom coming within a second of the U14 50m back."

So a good performance by the team, good luck for the final round.

I have a lot to get through here at work today so everyone has a days grace and I will make the booking in the morning, so all those families who have been talking to me about going, you have about 18 more hours in which to email me.

Just a reminder that there will be no swimming Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive.

The Saturday session for Competitive Development swimmers and the Friday evening session for Aldershot swimmers change over Easter. If this has come as a shock to you then talk to your coaches or email me to find out where you should be swimming.

With the change to the swimming at Godalming on the Saturday we will have some spare space in the lengths sessions. If you know anyone who would benefit from joining our Saturday sessions then please do ask them to get in touch. There is an application form on the website here.

Schweppes Abbey Well Water is offering free swimming on a Monday across the county. At present none of our local pools have signed up, but if you are away on holiday this year it could be useful. Details can be found here.
