Summer Time Trials
Big thank you to the 30 odd helpers who made the Summer Time Trials and BBQ such a success. It was a really good day, thank goodness it did not rain! Special mention to Jane Burke who did not run a mile when I told her how many tickets had been sold and thank you to Simon, Anthony, Terri and Suzanne for helping her out on the day.
Distance Swimming
The last Saturday in July will be our distance swimming event whereby the swimmers can test themselves over distances from 25m to 5000m. Details to follow early next week but it is open to ALL members and will run from 2 - 5pm.
Please let Jess or Debs know in advance if you want to take part. There will be a small charge for badges to cover costs, I will send out a form next week for those who would prefer to enter via email.
There will be no 30 minutes classes that day for Gill's swimmers.
GHS Dates
The GHS swimming has been extended to the 23rd July.
Your new committee
The AGM was very well attended and you now have a new committee;
- Jeni Colbourne - Chairman
- Mark Edwards - Treasurer
- Chris Michael - Secretary
- Michele Kearsey
- Karen Tuddenham
- Kate Steel
- Deb Wanstall
- Amanda Rusholme
Club Captains
After excellent service to the club Louise and Tom stood down at the AGM. Our new captains are James Toone and for the girls we have a joint appointment Hillary Rusholme and Liz Molter.
Rother League Round 2
Did not do a write up this because of the preparations for the Time Trials but it was another tough gala for us, it really does feel like we are struggling to hang on in this division. Going into the final round in September we are one of the favourites for relegation, probably in a worse position than last year. The final round is on September the 20th, so please do keep your diaries free for that as Wey Valley will need all of it's best swimmers available. We managed to avoid relegation last year, lets hope that we can do so again. Jon Brayne will announce the team next week.
Open Water
At the AGM Trevor Marshall gave a talk on Open Water swimming and there is a regional competition taking place in Southsea on the 6th September. An entry form is available if you are tempted (I think some of our older swimmers have half an eye on this). For the rest of us try this link
