From 2009 this league will no longer run but we plan to replace it by at least one other 'C' grade gala per year
The Thames Water 'C' league was formed in 2000 by Britannia and Wey Valley. The 'C' league was established to provide
competition for the young novice swimmer and for older swimmers who are not regularly competing at the higher
level e.g. The National league. The galas are about fun and gaining experience and hosts
are asked to brief their Referees and Starters accordingly.
The competition comprises teams swimming in 2 galas held in the spring term with relays for 9 year olds
and individual 50m events and mixed relay events for U11, U13, U15 and Open age swimmers. Events are time
banded as a guide for team managers as to the swimmers they should be selecting to take part.
There is a trophy for the overall winning team and a cup for the team with the least number of "too
fast" swims. Each club also nominates their best boy and best girl for medal awards. Founding members
of the league were Britannia, Wey Valley, Feltham, Farnham, Isle of Wight and Kingston.
