This, our main event of the year, involves everyone
- swimmers, teachers, officials and parents. The competition
is structured on a swimmer’s age and ability.
In each age group a swimmer is required to compete in
a range of events held on different 6 different dates.
The championships take place instead of lane training
on six separate days this term. To download details
of the events being held on each date click here

The overall objective for each swimmer is to improve
on their personal best times. The ASA
competitive swimming award scheme is based on national
time standards. These standards are not age restricted;
however, the correct stroke must be swum (technique
+ speed = success!). To gain an ASA
award it doesn't matter where you come in your race,
you just have to achieve the time and stroke criteria.
There is a Novice
competition on 1 December 2007 for swimmers registered
in our half hour Saturday classes.
The Age Cup Competition
runs over 6 dates, swimmers are entered into events
according to their age as at 31 December 2007. Points
are awarded for each event and the swimmer with the
lowest total cumulative point score at the end of the
championships is the age cup winner. For some age groups
we will be holding events over two distances e.g. for
the U12 age group there will be 50m events as well as
100m events for some strokes. These alternative and
additional events do not score points toward the age
cups but medals will be awarded (these arrangements
replace the former Graded competition). To download
details of events in your age group click here
